For those of us who travel regularly by aircraft, how often have we heard that line? But how often do we really think about what it means? Flight safety experts will tell you that we cannot hope to help someone else unless we have taken care of our own oxygen needs first. Empathy works the same way. Nurses use the flight example to train first-year nurses to take care of their own emotional needs as well as their patient’s needs. Marketing could learn from them.
